The thing of absolute importance that none of the
National Party Politicians are talking about.
Freedom of speech is at the bedrock of our once great nation.
Every democracy rests on the principle that everyone can speak openly
about what they think.
When free speech is compromised, freedom is compromised and a free and fair, democratic society is compromised.
Over the last 50 years, our right to free speech has been gradually ground away, and with it has gone our free society. It started by dictating what we can say and lately it has extended itself to presume that we are to be instructed in what we must say.
We must be free to say what we think. Being muzzled for fear of offending someone will never be acceptable.
We demand the absolute and unequivocal right to free speech, if, for no other reason, this is the basis of a strong democracy and helps safeguard all our other freedoms. We believe, any politician not talking about rolling back the erosion of free speech is not fit for anyone’s vote.
