It’s time for real care for our troops.
The harms suffered by the men and women of our armed forces doesn’t just end with the final shot of a conflict. I believe we are not doing anything like enough to show how much we care and value them. Therefore, I propose that in addition to awarding medals, veterans are given life long tax exemptions. And the state take on the long overdue responsibility and cost for supporting those mentally, as well as physically damaged by their service. Never again should we see veterans living out their lives on the streets and being left to die in the gutters.
In wartime, we expect our brave service men and women to lay down their lives if needs be. I believe in peacetime, the least we, the people, can do, is raise our voices in support of them.
